How Did Students, Staff and Faculty Observe Black History Month at King’s?

Black History Month serves as a reminder and celebration of the achievements of black people throughout history. In 2018, 21 percent of the freshman class at King’s identified as a minority student, three percent being black. In 2019, the incoming freshman class consisted of 27 percent minority students, and eight percent were black.  Although the student body has become more diverse, the majority of King’s students are white. How does a campus with a predominantly white student body observe BHM?

The House of Thatcher Takes First Place in House History Competition

The houses came together Saturday to participate in the House History Competition at King’s for the first time since new rules were set for the competition. This year, the competition showcased prominent moments throughout each House's history by creating various scenes where participants acted out events. The House of Thatcher took first place, with the Houses of Susan B. Anthony and C.S. Lewis coming in second and third, respectively.

Lunar New Year Festivities Liven Up Lower Manhattan

Hundreds gathered to ring in Lunar New Year with the annual parade in Chinatown and the Lower East Side of Manhattan on February 9. Entertainment at the annual parade includes traditional lion dances, floats, and the sound of hundreds of confetti cannons going off. Revelers who sought out the source of the noise were met with thousands of colorful confetti pieces, streamers, and parachutes falling from the sky.
