SBP Race Continues with Bananza
On Friday, the SBP race continued with the “Bananza.” The event served as a fun and casual way for the student body to get to know their candidates better. The candidates were asked questions, often warranting some silly answers and one “fishy” moment.
Taryn Cohn, Director of Communications, emceed the “Bananza” and students in the audience were encouraged to send in questions to the phone number provided.
To start the “Bananza,” student body president candidates Brent Buterbaugh, Catherine Blanco and Victoria Fisher played a few rounds of Never Have I Ever.
Catherine Blanco, (PPE ‘22), entered the City Room wearing a fairy costume and waving a wand. Blanco admitted during the event that she loves Brand papers because he “lets you write about, literally, whatever you want.”
Brent Buterbaugh, who currently serves as Director of Student Organizations, abandoned his signature suit and opted to dress down for the event. He later told the audience that his nickname was “cradle king” during middle school wrestling matches.
Victoria Fisher, (PPE ‘22) wore a bald cap to mimic the man who hacked her instagram account. “This man, he tried to steal my Instagram so I’m trying to steal his identity,” Fisher joked.
When asked if he would ever bite the head off a fish again, Buterbaugh replied that he would. To everyone’s surprise, Cohn handed Buterbaugh a ziploc bag holding a raw fish and he very quickly bit off its head.
Taryn Cohn, Director of Communications, emceed the “Bananza” sporting a lion onesie.
Audience members could send in questions via a phone number.
At the end of the debate, audience members were asked to place their banana peel in the bucket of the candidate they thought was the funniest.
