It was a voting run-off, Wednesday afternoon, that brought the race for student body president from five down to just two. Candidates Blake Ashley and Koby Jackson will debate for a final time on Thursday at 6:00 p.m before one of them is elected as student body president for the 2019-2020 school year.

The polls will be open from Wednesday afternoon until 11:59 p.m Thursday night.

“I feel really good, I was a little worried about it,” Ashley said. “Between the two of us, whoever it comes down to, King’s is in good hands.”

Both candidates express their joy in the announcement and also their nerves in the moments leading up to it, which was given by current SBP, Brandon Smith.

“I was extremely nervous beforehand, but now I’m extremely excited,” Jackson said. “If people want to vote now they can but I’d love to see people turn out for the debate.”

Student body president Smith thanked all of the candidates for running, and called on the students to “engage again, vote again,” adding that “this is where it matters.”

“I feel the same as I did before the results,” said Josiah Simons, one of the five candidates. “But I wish I signed up for an internship two weeks ago.”

Smith said that he is excited for both candidates. “It was a clean race, which reflects well on all of us.”
