Madelynn Kaufmann, Blake Ashley and Colin Phillips are running for Student Body President for the 2020-2021 school year, according to the announcement made Friday by current SBP Koby Jackson.

The candidates can begin campaigning and sharing their platforms by email to the student body this weekend.

“What I want to encourage before going into the campaign season is just to remember to conduct ourselves with civility and respect,” Jackson said. “When the platforms come out for the candidates, read them, engage with it, and form your own thoughts and questions and get ready to ask those questions throughout the debates.”

“It is really important that we all participate in it,” Jackson said. “Don’t speak from ignorance, speak from wisdom, speak from insight. Read the platforms and try to have productive conversation.”

Kaufmann encouraged all from the student body to reach out to her with questions, concerns, and criticisms regarding her campaign.

“To be honest, I am both nervous and excited for the next few weeks,” Kaufmann said in an email to EST. “Win or lose, I am so happy to be considered by the people of King's, and I hope we can all have fun with this process.”

EST reached out to Phillips and Ashley on Friday, and have not received a response.
